My child has never
played before. Is he/she still eligible?
Absolutely! Our instructional T-Ball division is tailored exclusively
to teach baseball fundamentals to 5 to 7 year olds. For older children, our
competitive division teams contain many first-time players. Our coaches strive
to instill sportsmanship as they teach the fundamentals of the game, and our
"veteran" players are happy to share their knowledge of the game. Return

- How much does it cost?
Registration fees for the competitive divisions (Farm-Minors-Majors)
are $105 for the season, and T-ball is $95, payable at time of registration.
Also, each child is responsible for an additional $60 in fundraising credits
through candy sales, sales of ads in our keepsake yearbook, or buyout.
Fundraising money is due by February 26.

- Anything else?
Yes! C.A.L. Baseball is an all-volunteer organization with no paid
staff. You will be asked to help out during the season. Your
child's manager will present you with several opportunities to help throughout
the year. Return to top
- What is included?
Payment of registration fees and fundraising entitles each player to
a uniform jersey and hat, portrait package, trophy, and a keepsake
yearbook. Return to top
- What else will my child need?
The League provides a new jersey and hat for each player. Parents are
expected to provide baseball pants, socks, belt, sleeves, and, or course, a
baseball glove. Managers will let you know what colors the team needs for these
accessories at the first scheduled team meeting. Parents of players in
competitive divisions will also be asked to furnish cleats and protective
cups. Return to top
- Where and when are practices?
Team managers select the venues and times for their practice
sessions. Teams typically practice twice a week (once a week for T-Ball
players), but managers may elect to schedule more or fewer sessions as they see
fit. Return to top
- Where and when are the games?
Currently, all games are played at Divine Word. T-Ball players
usually play one game per week, nearly always on Saturday. Competitive division
players start with Saturday games for the first month, then generally play twice
per week from mid-April through June. Weekday games are played at 5:30 pm. Return

My
friend's child plays in this league. Can my child play on his team?
Teams in the T-Ball and Farm divisions are assembled geographically
by the League. We will attempt to fill requests to play with specific children
or for specific coaches. Returning players in Minor and Major divisions can be
"protected" by their previous coaches, but new players in these divisions are
picked by blind draw - we cannot guarantee placement on a specific team. Return

- Is C.A.L. Baseball a
competitve league?
As a youth sports organization, we recognize and encourage the desire
to win. Currently, several of our alumni are playing competitively at the Pony
and high school levels. Through our partnership with the nationally renown
Positive Coaching Alliance (www.positivecoach.org
), however, we believe that a second, more important goal of any youth
organization should be to teach life lessons. All of our coaches are required to
attend workshops presented by the P.C.A., and you, as parents or guardians, will
also be required to attend a Sports Parent Clinic and abide by its
principles. Return to top
